Dear Friend of the
Library,
Once again it is time to thank you for your
generous donations over the past year and to ask you to renew your
membership for the coming year. The Rising Sun Branch continues to be
one of the most heavily used of all the Cecil County Library branches.
Your membership, along with other fund raising activities, makes a big
difference in supplementing the services and materials provided by the
Cecil County Public Library System.
When you visit the Rising Sun Branch Library, you
can see many of the improvements provided by the Friends. This year we
have a wonderful new children’s librarian who is very active and we have
supported her activities with some really fun-to-buy items like musical
instruments (yes, the library makes noise!) and equipment for family
time at the library. We bought a pop-up tent which was a godsend at
Sunfest (a wonderful sunny day this year!) and some zoo animal chairs
for the children’s section. Thanks to Master Gardeners of Cecil County
and a Friend’s donation we are looking cheery and bright around the
grounds, and let me take this opportunity not only to thank the Master
Gardeners but also the Country Thyme Garden Club who have done this so
beautifully and faithfully for so many years.
While the book and video sale raised significant
funds, the largest portion of our funds still comes from generous
members like you. We have over 200 members and would like to see that
grow. We also would like to see more of you at our quarterly meetings.
We need some new members on the Board of Directors and can always use
volunteers for book, bake and yard sales.
October is membership month. We urge you to
continue your membership by returning the enclosed envelope with your
donation. Please invite others to become members. You are invited to
attend our annual meeting on MONDAY OCTOBER 15th 2007 at the
Rising Sun Library at 8:00 PM. There will be a short business meeting
and election of officers for the coming year. Nominees are: President
– Barbara Dickson, Vice President – Helena Schulz, Treasurer – Donna
Hayes, and Secretary – RuthAnn Lander. We hope to see you at the
meeting.
