Computer Classes -  Descriptions

Adult Classes:  Introductory Courses

Introduction to Computers
A ninety-minute course.  The first part of the class focuses upon the basic components and operation of a computer.  The second part works on learning in-depth mouse techniques, using a mouse tutorial.  The class ends with a short introduction to the library's web site.
No Prerequisite.

Introduction to Email
This 60 minute class provides a basic introduction to how email works. Topics include sending, receiving, and attachments. The class also includes basic email safety. That class concludes with help setting up an email address for interested patrons.
Prerequisites: Keyboard and mouse skills.

Introduction to the Internet
A ninety minute course that introduces the student to the basics of the Internet - starting with it's origins and then covering the basic components and use of a web browser. The course concludes with an introduction to web searching.
Prerequisites:  Keyboard and mouse abilities

Introduction to Microsoft Word (2003 version)
This ninety-minute course introduces the student to the basics of word processing using Microsoft's 2003 Word program.  From the very first step on how to identify and utilize the tools to editing, saving and printing features. The student will leave the class with a basic understanding of how the program works and how to access it on their own from their home pc or by using the library's free computers.
Prerequisites:  Keyboard and mouse abilities.
