LIBRARY FRIENDS DONATE OVER $10,000

 The Friends of the Rising Sun Branch Library donated over $10,000 to purchase new furniture for the branch.  This donation enabled the library to renovate the interior of the branch with new shelving, desks, chairs, and computer tables.  The library purchased three new computers for the Rising Sun Branch, increasing the number of public computers to seven, including one computer designated as a children’s game computer.

“We are thrilled with the new furniture, shelving, and computers.  Our patrons are so pleased with the renovations” said Mitzi Fields, Manager of the Rising Sun Branch.  “The Friends really contribute to the library’s success.”

The Friends of the Rising Sun Branch Library was formed in 1990 by a group of citizens who recognized the need for a larger, full-service library in Rising Sun.  The group raised over $50,000 to facilitate the building of the new branch in 1994.  The Friends continue to support the library by sponsoring book, bake, and yard sales, membership drives, and other fundraisers.

The Cecil County Public Library operates six branches located throughout Cecil County, MD.  The library serves over 41,000 registered borrowers.  The mission of the Cecil County Public Library is to provide access to educational and cultural resources for all and promote individual and community success.
