Success Story
Great Scott Cleaning
Systems
“It is the
goal of Great Scott Cleaning Systems to provide the residents of Cecil
County, Maryland, and the surrounding counties, with the same high level of
cleaning that we have provided the United States Government for over 20
years.”
Marion Scott (right) and his
partner Charles Brady talking
with Congressman Wayne Gilchrest at a BRAC conference
Marion Scott has been “up, down, and all
around” in the cleaning business for the past twenty years. He is doing
something the business world calls “reinventing” his business. Previously
as Scott and Sons, he provided cleaning services for the government and
large commercial concerns in and around Philadelphia. During the past year,
he has renamed, refocused, localized and down-sized his business. With his
partner Charles Brady, he has formed a new company called Great Scott
Cleaning Systems, which provides cleaning services for both residential and
small businesses in Cecil County and surrounding areas of Maryland, Delaware
and Pennsylvania. He is still actively involved in contract cleaning with
the government and is looking forward to increased business with the influx
of activity created by BRAC, the military base realignment, at the Aberdeen
Proving Grounds.
Great Scott Cleaning Systems follows a
philosophy established by Marion of always going an extra step, by offering
some additional free service with each cleaning contract. Great Scott
Cleaning Systems advertises that it “…offers superior cleaning at reasonable
prices, strives to provide good service, forms good customer relationships,
and attempts to be a credit to the communities it serves.”
Marion’s engaging smile and appreciation of the services
of the library during his business change has made him a “favorite.” Marion
has been eager to use the cost effective means of computer technology for
advertising his small business. He has used the SBIC and the computer lab to
access his email, register for government workshops, set up a website,
create marketing brochures and gift coupons, and develop business forms for
contracts.
