Some inner
drive motivates people to start businesses; some inner passion creates
artists. When you couple artistry and the desire to have your own business,
you have Joseph Ulrich and his new photography studio. Joseph had already
established his photography reputation locally when he first came to the
SBIC in 2005 to talk about setting up his own studio. He knew what he wanted
to do. What impressed us was his patience to give himself the time he needed
to reach his goal. He wanted to do it well and he wanted to reduce his risk.
Though he didn’t need to seek financial backing, he was aware of the need to
do business planning to reach his goal. Joseph laid the groundwork for his
business, and literally laid the flooring in his new shop on Main Street in
Elkton. Finally, in May 2006, he opened the doors to Ulrich Photography.

provides a sampling of his photography services. He photographs weddings,
individuals, and commercial sites, and also produces artistic photography.
Growing up he was encouraged to be an artist; now he is an artist with a
camera.
