Volunteer
Volunteering at the Cecil County Public Library is a great way to serve your community while meeting interesting people and having fun! We have opportunities at all seven CCPL Branches.
Volunteers enhance and enrich the capabilities of our library staff. Working under the supervision of the staff, volunteers provide valuable support and assistance. There are many types of volunteer jobs in the library. Some assist the circulation staff with shelving books and helping with the daily book delivery. Others may assist with shelf and periodical maintenance. Still, others help with special projects such as putting together a children's craft or mending materials.
Volunteers are an important extension of the library program, and all volunteer efforts increase the library staff's ability to provide the best possible service for patrons of the library.
Please print out a Volunteer Application and return it to:
Volunteer Coordinator, 301 Newark Ave., Elkton, MD 21921.
You can also bring the form to your local branch. Once you return the completed application, we will contact you and schedule an interview to discuss your interests and volunteer options.
What Volunteers do:
Help is needed with all kinds of tasks, some simple and some more technical. Volunteers can be found in many of the library's departments throughout the system.

What is the Cecil County Library Trust?
The Cecil County Library Trust is a foundation that provides private funding for special projects and services at the Cecil County Public Library. It was created in 1994 to receive and grant funds for the benefit of the Cecil County Public Library. The Trust seeks to make significant and strategic contributions to our public libraries throughout the county. Private funding makes a powerful statement to our elected officials. When Cecil County citizens value the library enough to invest their own private resources in its growth and development they affirm that public funding for a strong public library system is a citizen priority.
How is the Trust Structured?
To make your charitable dollars work harder, the Trust is managed by an all volunteer Board of Directors. The Trust Directors are appointed by the Library Board of Trustees of the Cecil County Public Library.
Who gives to the Trust?
Private contributions from generous individuals, families, businesses and foundations provide support. The Trust seeks contributions of stock, property and bequests as well as monetary donations.
How is the income from the Trust used?
The Trust funds projects and services that enhance the Cecil County Public Library. These are projects that the library could not otherwise afford through its annual operating budget and are beyond those normally funded in the public library budget. Trust funds greatly augment the library's services by supporting special projects and services or by leveraging additional funds from grants and/or public entities.
Examples of Trust supported projects include:
- Specials features for library buildings
- Matching funds for grants or public funding to support programs or building projects
- Author programs for adults, young adults, and children
What is the tax status of the Library Trust?
The Cecil County Library Trust is a Section 501 (c)(3) non-profit corporation. Bequests, legacies, devises, transfers, or gifts to the Trust are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
