The Cecil County Public Library provides lifelong educational and cultural opportunities and resources for all, promoting individual and community success. Volunteering at the Cecil County Public Library is a great way to serve your community while meeting interesting people and having fun! The library has volunteer opportunities at six CCPL Branches.
Current Volunteer Needs:
Volunteers can be found in many of the library's departments including circulation, children's and reference. Opportunities include assisting with library mailings, helping with Story Time crafts, helping to keep materials in order and assisting with special events. Volunteers may also deliver collections of materials to nursing and assisted living facilities. Some volunteers participate on a regular basis, some chose to help on a one time or occasional basis. The library welcomes volunteers who are fulfilling their service learning requirements or taking advantage of workplace incentives to volunteer.
Volunteers are also needed to assist with our Book Buddy Program. Our Book Buddy Volunteers select and deliver library materials every three weeks to patrons who are homebound or facility-bound. Book Buddy Volunteers may spend as long as they want. The usual time commitment is 1½ hours per month; which includes visiting, selecting books and travel time.
Book Buddy Volunteers must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation and pass a background screening. All volunteers must be at least 14 years of age. Please contact your local branch of the library for more information on volunteer requirements.
Volunteer Application and Interview:
Volunteering at the library starts with your application and an interview, designed to match you with the perfect volunteer opportunity.
Please print out a Volunteer Application and return it to: Jamie McCloskey, Volunteer Coordinator, 301 Newark Ave., Elkton, MD 21921.
