Did you know there’s a statewide system for borrowing books? Did you know if Cecil County Public Library system doesn’t have a particular book you want, we may be able to borrow it from another public library system in Maryland? It might take a few days, up to about seven, but it’s free and that’s always a good thing. And, the service was just improved!
Starting January 14, 2013, there’s a new and improved way to borrow from other libraries in the state of Maryland. The service is still called Marina, but it is easier and much more user friendly. Simply log in with your library card number and search the statewide catalog.
You can do a simple search, just entering a title or author, but you can also do an advanced search with author and title. This way, you can eliminate any materials that don’t interest you. And, if Cecil County Public Library has an available copy, the improved Marina will direct you to our catalog where you can place a hold, even titles that are on order. When the search comes up totally empty, a form will appear for you to fill out. At this time, it’s best to contact your local library branch for help if you get that form.
On the same page on which you are requesting, you can check the status of your previous requests by checking your account. If you have an e-mail attached to your account, you’ll get e-mails to let you know the progress of your request/requests.
We know there will be glitches and adjustments that will be needed, but our staff is available to help you. If we can’t solve the problem, we know who can. Click here for tips on using the new and improved Marina system and don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if we can help.
