The Friends are a group of people who share a common goal: to support the public libraries of Cecil County. Funds from annual membership dues, donations from service organizations, business benefactors and other generous gifts help us to maintain our level of support to the Library.
Membership dues help to pay for student Summer Reading Programs, which are otherwise outside the scope of the Library’s budget. Thanks to donations raised by The Friends, 5,600 youth were able to participate in the 2012 Summer Reading Program. ALL of our money, except postage and printing costs, goes to support the Library. With additional membership, we can look at adding important teen and early childhood programs. We cannot do this without your help.
We also raise funds by hosting various events throughout the year. We plan on hosting an upcoming Spring Fashion Show on March 23rd at 1:30pm at Elkton Presbyterian Church, located at 209 East Main Street in Elkton, MD. Other events are yet to come, including our second annual Love the Library Lollapalooza in the fall, plus our bake sale and book swap. We are always looking for new ideas and welcome your input!
We welcome anyone who has time or talents to share. Membership applications are in every library branch or click here. You can also contact us for more information at 410-996-5600, ext. 474, online, or via email: Friends@ccplnet.org. We will be happy to tell you more about what we do or answer any specific questions you may have. Please join us and help make a difference for the libraries you love!
