Smart Marketing for Small Businesses

Attention Small Business Owners and Aspiring Entrepreneurs:

  • Are you overwhelmed by all the small business marketing options out there?
  • Do you feel your small marketing budget is holding you back from successfully reaching your target market?
  • Do you worry that your current marketing strategy is not letting you stand out from the competition?

“Smart Marketing for Small Business” is a free event at Cecil College, Elkton Station on Friday, September 11, 2015 from 8:30am to 11:30am that will address these vexing small business marketing issues facing your small business.

Matt Christ from Brand3, a virtual advertising and marketing firm, will discuss with attendees how to maximize their marketing strategy.  Matt has managed and produced effective brand and marketing strategies for a wide range of corporate and non-profit organizations in the mid-Atlantic region. His success is driven by the simple belief that the quality standards that make national brands successful should be applied to every size business.

Josue Sierra is a digital marketing leader at W.L. Gore & Associates in their consumer fabrics division. He has over 15 years of experience leading businesses large and small in implementing effective digital marketing, including email marketing.  He will explain how to create effective email marketing campaigns that really work.

This event is sponsored by the Cecil Business Resource Partners.  A free breakfast will be provided and Director of Cecil County Office of Economic Development Lisa Webb will provide opening remarks.  To sign up for this free event, visit:

Support the Library by Joining the Friends

Friend your libraryIf you are reading this blog then you are most likely a friend of the library–but, are you a member of the Friends of the Library? Confused? So was I, until I met a dedicated group of folks, The Friends of the Cecil County Public Library. The Friends is an active group of community members who love the library and volunteer their time and talents.

The Friends support the Library through many activities, such as membership and donations, business donations and fundraising, as well as generously supporting the Library’s Summer Reading Program each year. This program is so essential to our community and especially crucial for our children and their success in school. The Friends also volunteer their time at the Library assisting staff with many tasks. They plan and coordinate successful fundraisers such as basket raffles, bake sales, silent auctions and other activities–all to benefit the library. The Friends have also hosted interesting and educational programs for the community. Most recently, they hosted a local author program and a fascinating presentation on the historical significance of the Chesapeake waterways. They even host fun activities like book swaps.

The next event on the Friends’ calendar is their annual meeting on November 9, beginning at 6 p.m. The public is invited. After a brief business meeting, free antique appraisals will be offered by Carl York and his daughter, Carla York, from 7-8:45 p.m. Plan to arrive by 6 p.m. to secure a number for an appraisal. Items to be appraised should be portable. Also, a silent auction with antique items will be ready for bids and light refreshments will be available.

If you love the library, won’t you consider becoming a Friend of the Cecil County Public Library? For more information about the Friends, membership or making a donation email, leave a message at 410.996.5600, ext. 474 or visit the Friends page on our website.
