Assistant Director - Operations, Elkton Administration

As member of the senior administration team, this is an exceptionally responsible system-wide managerial position, which demands excellent judgment and a thorough knowledge of library management. The Assistant Director for Operations functions as an internal senior project manager focused on large and complex projects involving technology and/or facilities and internal operations including finance, material management and technical processing. The Assistant Directors play a major role in advising the Director and assisting with the development of the CCPL budget, strategic directions, capital improvement projects, new services and programs, and all other major CCPL projects. In the absence of the CCPL Library Director, the Assistant Directors act on behalf of the Director as needed.

 

Required skills and experience include: Master's degree in Library Science from a program accredited or recognized as an equivalent by the American Library Association, ability to obtain State of Maryland certification as a Professional Librarian within 6 months of hire, minimum of 5 years supervisory and managerial experience in a professional, leadership role in a public library setting. Minimum of 3-5 years' experience focused on the application of 21st Century technology to library services, including advanced understanding of Integrated Library Systems, the internet, creation and function of library web sites, and the fundamentals of financial management software. Thorough knowledge of public library professional standards, practices, issues and trends. Knowledge of project management with demonstrated skills and judgment in public library management and problem solving. Excellent skills in technology, written and verbal communications, supervision, mentoring, presentation/public speaking, and analysis. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.

 

Regular schedule full-time schedule is 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday. Additional flexibility is required, including occasional early morning, late evening and weekend hours. Primary work location is at the Elkton Administration Office; however travel state-wide meetings and library branches within Cecil County is required. Starting salary is $80,047 per year. Branch Manager - Chesapeake City Branch

This professional, managerial, and supervisory position is responsible for the public services operations of the Chesapeake City Branch.

 

Areas of responsibility include coordination of operations and supervising Adult, Children's, and Circulation services, training and developing staff, marketing collections and services, ensuring the delivery of quality library materials and services to the public, and managing general/routine branch related facility/security issues.

 

Requires at least 3 years of supervisory experience, excellent customer service, communications and technical skills. Master's degree in Library Science from a program accredited or recognized as an equivalent by the ALA required. Regular full-time (37.5 hr/wk) schedule includes day, evening and weekends hours. Librarian I - Children's Services Supervisor, Perryville Branch

The Cecil County Public Library seeks a highly motivated Librarian interested in a career opportunity serving the public and making a difference in children's lives. CCPL is currently hiring a full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) Children's Services Supervisor (Librarian) at the Perryville Branch Library.

 

Under the general supervision of the Perryville Branch Manager, the Children's Services Librarian will lead and manage the children's services department (1 full-time and 2 part-time staff) of the Perryville Branch Library and will develop, manage, and deliver a full range of effective and innovative programs and services to meet the needs of the children (age 0-11), families, and caregivers of Perryville and Port Deposit. Works cooperatively with Elkton Children's Services Librarian and the Assistant Director to develop children's services. Additional duties include circulation, reader's guidance and research assistance for patrons of all ages, as needed.

 

Requires MLS from an ALA-accredited program, and the ability to obtain and maintain Professional Public Librarian Certification from the MD State Office of Education. Minimum of 2 years professional library work experience with children and supervision, preferably in a library setting. Excellent customer service, communication and computer skills, and experience working with children required. Regular schedule includes day, evening and weekend hours.
