Ivy + Bean

by Annie Barrows

Bean is a rough and tumble tomboy and Ivy, her neighbor across the street, keeps her head in a book and wears a dress every day. She seems nice, but as Bean says, "nice is another word for boring". One day, Bean looks for a place to hide after pranking her older sister, and Ivy's yard might be the only option. Ivy comes to the rescue, and Bean discovers that she is a little different than she originally thought. The two new friends set off on a mission, and through their adventure, Ivy and Bean learn that you don't have to be alike to enjoy each other's company.

A fun read with great illustrations - a young reader just starting chapter books would love this book. If you like it, you're in luck, because there are currently six more books in the Ivy + Bean series!
