Juliet, Naked
I've never read or in this case listened to Nick Hornby's work before, but I've seen a couple of the critically acclaimed films based on his previous writing: High Fidelity and About a Boy. I found these films to be enjoyable and pretty right on in terms of normal messy relationships between friends, love/lust pairings, and parents and children. Juliet, Naked does not disappoint. True to his prior stories, Hornby manages to tie together personal and professional knowledge of the music industry and related fandom in a compelling story filled with longing, regret, and finally hope. I especially enjoyed listening to the CD book. There are three different narrators who give us their unique impressions of the myriad characters both from the United States and over the pond in England.
