Trailing West
Louis L'Amour is one of the best-known names in Western fiction. In his early years he started out writing poems, articles, and eventually stories for various magazines. The first Western novel under his own byline was written in 1950. It was rejected by every American publisher to which it was submitted, but a British publishing house eventually purchased the rights. A couple of years later one of his novels became the basis for the movie "Hondo" starring John Wayne. "Trailing West" is a collection of four of L'Amour's short stories. We have similar collections on CD book, which include sound effects and multiple voices, and are more like staged dramas. Either format would be a good way to find out if you like his style.
