Have you ever believed strongly about something, only to have your opinion questioned by other people? Or maybe you've realized that the right answer to a problem isn't always as clear cut as you thought. That's exactly what happens to Jenna the summer before her senior year of high school. As an alternative to spending the summer at her grandmother's house, Jenna convinces her parents to let her stay with her godmother in a small town in rural Canada. She thinks this will be the perfect way to experience the environment that she works so hard to save as a Green Teen. However, her protests, letter writing and recycling campaigns haven't prepared her for the real wilderness or the teens she meets there, who aren't very interested in her ideas for saving the earth. As Jenna becomes more comfortable with her summer home, her life in New Jersey starts to fall apart. Her parents may be getting a divorce and her best friend is forming much more radical views that will ultimately force Jenna to choose between her friend and her beliefs. Can one summer change who you are and what you believe? Find out in "Boys, Bears, and a Serious Pair of Hiking Boots" by Abby McDonald.
