Through the Heart
Through the Heart is one of those treasures I always hope to find as I browse the stacks. This absorbing page turner is a love story/mystery about Nora, a waitress in Kansas, and Timothy, a financial wizard from Wall Street. And along with their love story, are the side stories -- a look into the complex relationships between mothers and daughters, mothers and sons, brothers and sisters, and friends.
The first page is a homicide investigation report. The following chapters are written in first person, alternating between Nora and Timothy. In between each chapter is a short page of facts about homicides, leaving the reader with subtle hints about a horrific murder.
Throughout this story to the very last page, I was constantly reminded about the cliché, ‘nothing is what it seems.' Every time I assumed I had figured out a character or who would be murdered, I'd be surprised with another shocker or twist in the story.
