Remember the movie "The Birds"? That movie is one of Alfred Hitchcock's scariest films and it stays in your memory forever. The movie is actually based on a short story by Daphne du Maurier in her "Classic Tales of the Macabre." Yes, it is the very same author who wrote "Rebecca." Several other short stories in this collection that are well worth reading are "The Apple Tree," "The Blue Lenses," "The Alibi" and of course "The Birds".
