Salty Creek, Georgia is the kind of town where everyone knows one another and strangers rarely settle. In 1939 the arrival of Japanese-American Mr. Oto causes quite a stir. A loving friendship develops between Sophie, a spinster who had lost her love in WWI, and Mr. Oto. However, with the bombing of Pearl Harbor tension in the town runs rampant and Mr. Oto's quiet life comes under siege. Sophie must decide which path her life will take. This is a beautiful and thought-provoking story.
