Super 8
From writer/director J.J. Abrams of the TV show "Lost" fame and producer Steven Spielberg - Super 8 is set in a small Ohio town in 1979 where a group of teenaged friends are working on a film about zombies using their Super 8 camera. While filming a scene near the train tracks late one night, the friends witness a horrific train accident that sets off a series of mysterious disappearances and the militarized takeover of their small town. The Deputy's son, Joe, is at the center of the story along with Alice, a new actress in their amateur film played beautifully by Elle Fanning. I missed my chance to see this on the big screen this past summer but even so this film has it all: nostalgia for the parents, young people doing something cool for the kids, and plenty of action and suspense for everyone. A must see!

I totally agree, as a kid from the 80's, it was nice to see a great young adult cast. While it is a bit more ominous than The Goonies, there is still a good storyline. Great casting by J.J. Abrams!
My 12 year old son, a budding moviemaker, loved this especially the ending where the kids finished zombie film is shown. Very Goonies-esque.
