Reading a review for Michael Robotham's newest thriller, "Say You're Sorry," (2012) I was intrigued and wanted to read it, but it wasn't available. I wasn't familiar with this author so I checked out his first book, "Suspect" (2005).
Joe O'Loughlin appears to have it all: a psychologist with a good practice, gorgeous wife and daughter. A recent diagnosis of Parkinson's disease rocked his world -- at forty-two, wasn't he was too young to be facing terminal deterioration of mind and body?
Reluctantly pulled into a homicide investigation by brooding Detective Vincent Ruiz, Joe tries to help but quickly finds himself in the cross-hairs of suspicion.
This debut novel's gritty violence reminds me of "Girl with a Dragon Tattoo," while its plot line has an essence of "Presumed Innocent." There are just some books you can imagine as a movie. Harrison Ford would make a very fine Joe O'Loughlin.
