I love to cook and bake and I love a good cook book. Maya Angelou's, "Hallelujah! The Welcome Table" Angelou shares a lifetime of memories, the good times along with the sad ones. Whatever the situation, food played an important part in her life. When scolded at school for being afraid to speak in class, her mother baked a maple cake to buoy her spirits. Through lean times she learned to stretch what food was available into a healthy meal. Whatever the situation, Angelou has always found a way to include food as a celebration life. I think I enjoyed reading her stories as much as I anticipated trying some of her recipes.
