Based on real life events, Taking Chance tells the story of Lt. Col Michael Strobl, a volunteer military escort officer who accompanies the body of 19-year-old Marine Chance Phelps back to his hometown of Dubois, Wyoming. The story takes the viewer into some seldom-seen corners of America -- from airport cargo facilities to the mountain highways of Wyoming -- and shows everywhere the reverence for the fallen. This movie deals with death, respect, honor, patriotism, family, and love.
Not many words are spoken in this movie, nor do there need to be. I love the respect that is shown for those who serve for us from all across the country as people pray and think of Chance's family. Chance touched many. He died a hero but, more importantly, Chance lived a hero.
To every man and woman who serve for our country, thank you!
