Outreach Services provides five outstanding programs!

Book Buddy Program
In this program a Book Buddy volunteer selects
reading materials and takes them to a homebound or facility-bound Book
Buddy patron. Items are checked out to the patron on a modified card
which eliminates fines. Approximately every three weeks the books are
exchanged. During a visit a volunteer spends time with the patron and a
friendship is often formed.
Materials in our library collection and other
Maryland libraries are available. Books (regular and large print), audio
books (tape and CD), and music CDs can be checked out. If there is
a visual disability, the MD State Library for the Blind and Physically
Handicapped will offer free use of tape recorders and tapes.
If you would like to more information or want to
volunteer, please call Katherine Campbell, 410-996-5600 ext.141.
This Way to Books
This Way To Books is an outreach
program that promotes emerging literacy and the healthy growth and
development of young children in licensed day care homes and centers
throughout Cecil
County. This program provides assistance to child care providers as well as
storytimes and library material for the children.
This Way to Books begins every
October and ends in May. Call Miss Terri at the Elkton Central Library,
410-996-5600 ext. 119, to see if your home day care qualifies for a
visit from the book van!

Books After the Bell
During the school year, this Cecil County Public
Library outreach program brings library books, materials and activities
to after school sites. It primarily targets middle school aged students
who attend after school programs, such as the Boys and Girls' Clubs of
Cecil County, Upper Bay Counseling sites, and Generation Station (for
Bohemia Manor area students), but no child who is participating in these
programs is turned away.

including nursing and assisted living homes, adult day care facilities,
