Minutes of April 9, 2007 Board Meeting
The meeting was called to order by President
Barbara Dickson at 8:05 p.m.
Those in attendance were Barbara Dickson, Marilyn
O’Connell, Ruth Ann Lander, Fred Bergold, Mitzi Fields, Jerry Newman,
Helena Schulz and Vickie Snyder. The minutes of the January 8, 2007
meeting were read and approved.
The treasurer’s report was presented. There is a
balance in checking of $82.89 and a balance in savings of $6254.66. The
CD is now worth $11,033.27 and the brokerage account is at $16,636.03
Marilyn OConnell reported that the Friends
received an invitation to the governor’s Volunteer Service Awards. No
one can attend.
Mitzi Fields reported that the pop-up tent was
bought, delivered and paid for. They have not tried it yet because of
the bad weather. The shelving must wait for Chesapeake City.
Marilyn OConnell reported that based on research
we may not need to change the By-laws. However, if we decide to, we can
add a phrase to Article X. This will be discussed again at another
time.
Jerry Newman reported that the Historical group
did not make a decision on micro-filming the copies of the Herald.
Diana Ehrhart will take over from Jerry and we can contact her to pursue
the issue.
It was moved, seconded, and decided to pay the
fee for Sun Fest. Barbara is making up the list of volunteers for
setting up and working the Book Sale, putting out the signs, organizing
the Bake Sale, and helping set up the Library booth.
Mitzi said we would need to provide $325 for Book
Hook. This was approved.
Mitzi asked if the Friends wanted to buy large
flower pots for the front. The ones that were there previously had been
provided and maintained by the Garden Club. They decided to discontinue
this. It was decided the Friends would not replace them since there is
no one to maintain them.
Mitzi said the children’s librarian would like to
purchase some small musical instruments for children’s activities. The
Board approved $100 for this.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:15. The next
meeting is July 9, 2007 at 8:00 pm.
