Cecil County Public Library's
2008
Summer Reading Program for Teens in Sixth Grade and Up!
How do I join?
It's easy! Just visit your local library to sign up and receive your summer reading packet, or you can sign up online. (If you register online, you will still need to pick up your reading log. Note: Adobe Reader is required to view the reading log.)
What happens if I register online?
Registering online is a convenience for you. Once you've registered, whether online or in person at the library, the next step is to pick up your Reading Log.
When does it happen?
June 2nd through August 1st, 2008. You can register and participate anytime during these dates. And don't forget the Summer Reading Picnic at the North East Town Park on August 6, 2008.
How much does it cost?
As always, it's FREE!
What should I read?
Any book (from your library or from home or even from Grandma's house!).
Also, books from your school's reading list. You can even read magazines,
comic books, graphic novels and newspapers.
If someone in my family can't read, can they still join?
Certainly! Just read to them and keep track on their reading log.
Do you have something like this for younger kids?
Absolutely! Summer Reading for Children is called "Catch the Reading Bug".
Adults can also participate in summer reading!
Are there any special events at the library that I can go to?
Lots! Check out the program descriptions and see when they're happening! Also take a look at the programs by branch.
How do I win prizes?
After registering for the Summer Reading Program, readers are eligible to enter drawings for prizes.
After you have read six books (make sure to write these down on your log and bring that to the library), you receive great prizes! You also get a raffle ticket - your chance to win one of the Grand Prizes.
For every three books after that, you get another raffle ticket - another chance to win one of many Grand Prizes!
Drawings for the Grand Prizes will be held after August 1st. You need not be present to win!
