3-D Printing at the Library

3-D printing CCPL

Have you ever wanted to try your hand at 3-D design? Here is your opportunity to design and print a three-dimensional object. If you are entering grades 6-9, sign up for our 3D Printing Studio on Friday, May 30th from 3:30 to 6:30pm.

Both adults and teens who cannot attend the 3-D Printing Studio program will be able to design and print by appointment. CCPL will have a 3D printer available from June 2nd to June 14th. There is limited availability, so set up an appointment today if you would like to have your design printed for free!

Steps and design requirements

  • Any objects printed must be in accordance with library policy on viewing materials and adhere to state and federal law. Final print approval is at staff discretion.

  • Designs must be stable enough for printing. We have the capability to produce small figurines. As a frame of reference, think of a king piece from a standard chess set.

  • Create a design using the free, web-based options on www.tinkercad.com

  • Call us and leave a message on extension 111 with your name, phone number, and a brief description of the item you'd like to design. We will be in touch to make an appointment, during which you will meet with library staff to review your design. If at any time during the process you have questions, leave a message on extension 111 and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

  • Save your design on a flash drive in STL format and bring it with you to your appointment.

  • Once your design is reviewed and approved, we will print it for you! All designs will be available for pickup at 3-D Printing Community Day on Saturday, June 14th, from 10am-12pm.
