Receive the gift of free digital content from CCPL!

December 22nd, 2017

ebookMaybe your family or friends gifted you a new eReader this holiday season. How exciting to have all the books in the world at your fingertips!

Until, after the party, you’re at home, trying to figure out how to download a book, and then, you are shocked to learn that eBooks are just as pricey as paperbacks.

Never fear! You can find what you’re looking for through the library for the low, low price of $0. Talk about a deal.

CCPL has three apps to access digital content: Libby for OverDrive, Hoopla, and RBdigital (formerly OneClickDigital). You can check out what’s available right now– check under “Digital Library” on our website,

If you’ve never used an eReader before, stop by any branch! One of our librarians can assist you with setting up your new eReader or tablet, help you download one of our apps, and troubleshoot any technical errors.

Are you already an e-book connoisseur? Here are a few tips you may not know:

  1. Keep your data bill from going up– download your book to your device through WiFi. Once it’s downloaded, it’s on your phone until the due date when it’s automatically removed from your device, so you can listen to your audiobook in the car with no worries!
  2. Is the narrator suuuuuper slow on your audiobook? You can increase the audiobook speed by 1.25, 1.5, 1.75 or 2 times. Look for the button that resembles a speedometer on top of the audiobook when it’s open in your app.
  3. With Libby, OverDrive’s new app, you can add additional library cards to your app– that means, if your whole family shares an e-reader, you can all use the same app to read and listen! Simply press the “Add Library Card” on the Libby homepage to add a card and toggle between accounts.

Do you want to have your next book, audiobook or album instantly available? Try Hoopla! Checkouts are immediate with no holds or fines (be sure to download to your device as mentioned in tip #1). Browse thousands of e-books, audiobooks, movies, graphic novels, and children’s materials. Download the app and make an account with your CCPL library card.

If you’d like to explore on your own time, try the Niche Academy tutorial videos on our website. If you still have questions, call your local branch or e-mail
