Minnow Bly is 17, she was raised for the last 12 years in a cult called The Community, and her hands have been cut off. The Prophet is the man who led her parents into the wilderness to live where men take several wives and women are forbidden from reading. The Prophet is dead and the community is burned to the ground. Who did it?
This YA psychological thriller is a marvel. Though the narrator has been through pain we can hardly imagine, she is resilient. As we unravel the string of events that led to the end of The Community, Minnow proves to be a kind and incredibly brave woman. This book keeps you guessing until the very end, and once I picked it up I couldn't put it down.
