This memoir is organized into stories of near death experiences, but it is so much more than that. O'Farrell uses each chance encounter with death as an opportunity to explore her past and the people in it. Her writing is vivid and descriptive, with the focus moving effortlessly from the now of the story to her past experiences to the future, when you're holding the book in your hand. I can't recommend this memoir enough!
