Congratulations to the 2019 Start-up Cecil Winners

Start-up Cecil 2019 Winners1st- Sally Weaber- “Meaningful Memories”- A business where clients can send in clothing from loved ones to have it repurposed into pillows, quilts, Christmas tree ornaments, or other hand-sewn items.
2nd- Brandon Goldberg- “Rewired”- A business helping individuals set up and troubleshoot issues with electronics.
3rd- Hannah Peterson- “It’s All 4 You 2”- A bakery featuring unique items such as chocolate cookie cubes and lactose-free cakes.

Thanks to all the presenters for their hard work, and to the judges:

Start-up Cecil 2019 Presenters

 

What is Start up Cecil?
A contest for teens. Display your creativity and learn what it takes to be an entrepreneur. Work with librarians and mentors from the local business community to create a business plan. Then, present your business plans to the judges and the public at the Start-Up Cecil Showcase.

What can I win?
1st Prize: $200 Visa card
2nd Prize: $100 Visa card
3rd Prize: $50 Visa card
Plus, all participants receive a Start-Up Cecil T-shirt and personalized business cards!

Who can enter?
Anyone between ages of 11-17.

How do I win?
Business Plan +Presentation= Winner!
The judges will choose the winners based on two criteria: your business plan and your presentation

When is the deadline?
Business plans must be submitted by 5 PM on Monday, July 15th to any CCPL branch or via email to sbic@ccplnet.org.

GUIDELINES

Your Presentation
Think Shark Tank!
Get creative!
Explain your business plan and ideas.
Use visual aids like PowerPoint, posters, or product examples.
Speak clearly and loudly.
Remember, your presentation and business plan will count equally.
Practice in front of friends and family to help with confidence!
***All PRESENTATIONS MUST BE 5 MINUTES OR LESS.

Your Business Plan
Read and answer all questions completely.
Use databases to support your answers and research your competition.
Ask mentors and librarians for help if you have a question.
***REMEMBER, ALL BUSINESS PLANS ARE DUE BY MONDAY, JULY 15TH @ 5 PM.
